I’m heartbroken and extremely disappointed with my experience at Ruffin’s Pet Center. I purchased a betta fish, who from the beginning seemed unusually still and withdrawn. I noticed a black spot on him right away, and I watched it grow larger every day. It was clearly a sign of something wrong, possibly an infection or even a tumor but nothing about his condition was ever mentioned when I bought him. This kind of neglect is unacceptable. Selling animals that are clearly sick or suffering is not just irresponsible, it’s cruel. I trusted this store to provide healthy pets and basic care, and instead I was left watching my fish decline until he eventually died. No one warned me, no advice was offered, and it’s obvious now that the signs of illness were already there. If you care about animals and want to avoid heartbreak, I strongly suggest going somewhere that takes pet health seriously and doesn’t sell animals already showing signs of illness. I’ll never be returning to Ruffin’s.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. My family of 4 went in and no one bothered to come ask us if we need any help. All three of them(guy with glasses, girl with green hair, and other short haired girl) stood there at the counter talking and laughing and flirting with eachother. We decided after 10-15 mins of looking around to take our business elsewhere. They only bothered to say anything as we were leaving. What a shame because I was planning on buying three of the $30 male betta fish. Your loss!! Will never go there again!!
February 27/22 I was in today looking for fish and was disappointed in the quality of the fish and care of the tanks! There were a number of injured, dying and dead fish in many of the tanks! I realize this can happen but, the tanks should be checked and diseased or dead fish removed. I don’t think I would feel comfortable buying fish here.?
The staff are so very friendly and helpful. They sure do look after you. I prefer Ruffins over any other pet store. Great job staff keep up the great customer service ? ?
Needs to know more about small animal care the cages and advise they give is outdated and puts small animals in danger. Hamsters are alone animals and need a min of 450 square inches of unbroken floor space and never use pine shavings because they give ur animals upper respiratory infections and can cause death. Their fish r usually always sick and they don't give proper information about them either no animal should live in any tank under 10 gallons in size even bettas.
